# Tyrese Maxey's potential new contract (summer 2024)
Based on a $142 million salary cap for the 2024-25 NBA season, here is the max that Tyrese Maxey can command in a new contract this summer:
| **If Maxey...** | **2024-25** | **2025-26** | **2026-27** | **2027-28** | **2028-29** | Total |
| ---------------- | ----------- | ----------- | ----------- | ----------- | ----------- | -------- |
| Does not All-NBA | $35.25m | $38.07m | $40.89m | $43.71m | $46.53m | $204.45m |
| Makes All-NBA | $42.30m | $45.48m | $49.07m | $52.45m | $55.84m | $245.34m |
**What does this mean?**
The NBA has maximum contracts slots that players can earn. These slots are based off of years of service time, and are as follows:
- 0-6 years: up to 25% of the salary cap.
- 7-9 years: up to 30% of the salary cap.
- 10+ years: up to 35% of the salary cap.
However, for players coming off of their rookie contract there are certain qualifiers that can allow a player to bump into the next tier, a process which is called a "Designated Player" or, frequently referred to as a "supermax" contact. In Maxey's case, if Maxey meets one of these conditions and qualifies for the "supermax" he would then be able to earn a contract up to 30% of the salary cap, rather than the 25% he would otherwise be limited to based on his experience.
One of these qualifiers is whether he makes an All-NBA team in the most recent season before he signs his contract this summer. The $35.25 million starting salary is based off of 25% of the projected 2024-25 salary cap. The $42.3 million salary is for the 30% scale. He can then receive year-over-year raises of up to 8% off of the base year salary.
